Kelpwatch.org, The World’s Largest Kelp Map, Launched

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Establishment has announced the launch of the enviornment’s biggest Kelp draw.

The initiative is in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, the College of California Los Angeles and the College of California Santa Barbara. The draw covers kelp on the western seaboard of North The US, where kelp stretches from Oregon-Washington within the north to Baja California within the south.

The initiative uses far off sensing and satellite tv for computer imagery to attract out kelp density and tune how it grows and modifications over time.

Commenting on the work, Tom Bell, an assistant scientist at WHOI, who on the foundation partnered with UCLA over the project, stated:
