Renee Capozzola from the United States has been named the 2021 Underwater Photographer of the one year.
Capozzola’s a hit image (witness above) featured blacktip reef sharks cruising under sea gulls at sunset in French Polynesia. She is the first female photographer to be named overall winner of the present world pictures contest.
Higher than 4500 underwater pictures were entered by underwater photographers from 68 countries across the arena.
To shoot “Sharks’ Skylight,” Capozzola travelled from her dwelling in California, out across the Pacific Ocean, to the diminutive island of Moorea in August 2020. She outlined:
