Researchers on the King Abdullah College of Science and Expertise (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia have developed a wifi system for underwater gadgets.

They name it “Aqua-Fi” and it uses lasers and varied formulation — largely off the shelf — that can perchance connect with the Web.

Constant with Basem Shihada, a computer science companion professor at KAUST who labored on the mission:

“While you should need to agree with the technique to plot the Web underwater, laser alignment remains primarily the most demanding piece.”
