A panel at a recent symposium highlighted the importance of Indigenous peoples within the hunt to preserve the earth’s resources, each and each on land to boot as within the ocean.
The Heart for American Growth and the Nationwide Ocean Security Coalition invited Native experts to to find section in a symposium at the 2022 Nationwide Range in STEM Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico final October.
Humna Sharif from the Nationwide Ocean Security Coalition moderated the discussion, which included six speakers:
Chief Anne Richardson, Chief of the Rappahannock Tribe;
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation;
Joel Moffett, Native American citizens in Philanthropy;
Anthony Ritter, College of Guam;
Haley Case-Scott, White Home Yell of labor of Science Know-how and Protection; and
Angelo Villagomez, Heart for American Growth.
That symposium introduced out 5 “shared topics,” per the Heart for American Growth:
bringing their Indigenous identification to their work;
utilizing Indigenous faded ecological files;
centering Indigenous values in conservation;
the tasks they invent as Indigenous folks; and
the necessity for persevered advocacy for his or her communities and nature.
