A predominant marine heatwave off the southern cruise of Contemporary Zealand has brought about a mass bleaching of sea sponges native to those waters.

Here is the first time this kind of mass bleaching event has been viewed in Contemporary Zealand, in line with Victoria University of Wellington oceanographer James Bell, who told the Neutral:
