There’s a brand fresh story for the deepest cave dive by a girl on open-circuit scuba.

South Africa’s Karen van den Oever in October dove to 805.93toes/245.65m, breaking her possess previous story of 774toes/236m.

The dive itself lasted 8 hours 11 minutes, and took space in South Africa’s Boesmansgat cave. The sinkhole in that cave is at an elevation of 5,085toes/1,550m above sea level.

As a result of the elevation (and related decompression calculations, van den Oever’s dive used to be the same to a 945toes/288m dive at sea level.
